I am a transmedia composer. By transferring concepts into different media, I create an ambiguous experience. I want to uncover the breaks and gaps in hierarchies and enable a new perspective in concerts, performances and sound installations. By working far away from concert halls - for example in public swimming pools, water towers, research institutes, museums or rural meadows - I am looking for a multi-layered audience.

_Modular Organ – Phillip Sollmann & Konrad Sprenger [2025]

Together with Julika Bosch and on behalf of the 20th anniversary of the International Düsseldorf Organ Festival (IDO), I curated the exhibition „Modular Organ“ and invited Phillip Sollmann and Konrad Sprenger for a three-month exhibition of their walk-through sound system „Modular Organ System“ at the Philara Collection in Düsseldorf.

„Modular Organ“ transcends the rigid categories of musical instrument or sculpture: it is neither a classic organ nor simply an adaptation of one, but rather a state of tonal intensification, spatial tension and physical experience. The installation is composed of various elements, including organ pipes and wind-activated resonators such as fibreglass funnels, as well as modular sound generators, which all operate unconfined by the casing of a classic instrument. Here, notes are not merely played: instead, sound is produced in and with the space, creating an individual, physically experiential event.

Curators of the exhibition: Julika Bosch, Vincent Stange, Hannah Niemeier
