The 3-channel video installation “Über den Rhein” [Across the Rhine] by Vincent Stange and Alexander Borowski deals with Robert Schumann’s death and suicide attempt.

On 27 February 1854, Schumann commits suicide by jumping off a bridge into the Rhine and is rescued. He spends the last years of his life in a mental hospital.
The work is part of the permanent exhibition at the Schumann House in Düsseldorf.
